Take a Look at Cultural Institutions with the Decolonial Hacker Browser Extension

Decolonial Hacker is a browser extension for the websites of cultural institutions, which dissolves these institutions’ websites when activated, revealing texts informed by critical decolonial politics. By doing so, Decolonial Hacker can provide an alternative narrative for the visitors of these sites to engage with, and it can also encourage more people to actively imagine and posit better alternatives for institutional governance.

It is a project of the research-policy institute Media, Culture, and Communications (MC&C), which is based in Berlin, Germany, and which was founded in 2013 with the mission to bring political and cultural institutions to life in the way that can be best understood by the people that make them.

The extension takes the form of a browser extension, so that it can work as an active part of the site’s operation, while still maintaining full functionality. It can also be deactivated through the Decolonial Hacker settings, so it can be used to read the site but will not disrupt any operations or functionality.
